Weekly Report: Teaching Practice (Phase II)
Weekly Report: Teaching Practice (Phase II)
Bi-Weekly Report: 18th June 2024 - 28th June 2024
Period: 18th June 2024 - 28th June 2024
The first two weeks of my teaching practice were foundational in establishing my role as a teacher and connecting with the students. During this period, I focused on setting a strong groundwork in both Physics and Chemistry for the 9th-grade students.
In the initial days, I introduced the concepts of refraction of light in Physics, covering the basics of how light bends when it passes through different media and discussing related phenomena like optical density. In Chemistry, I started with the fundamentals of atomic structure, including the Plum Pudding Model and the discovery of protons. These topics were taught using a mix of lectures, visual aids like PowerPoint presentations and charts, and interactive discussions to ensure that the students could grasp the concepts effectively.
As I progressed, I covered more advanced topics in both subjects. In Physics, I introduced the concept of Total Internal Reflection and its applications, while in Chemistry, I moved on to the Periodic Table, discussing transition elements and main group elements. I also conducted problem-solving sessions in both subjects to reinforce the students' understanding.
During this period, I was observed by Renjini teacher, an assistant professor from our college. Her feedback was encouraging, highlighting my effective use of visual aids and interactive teaching style. This observation helped me refine my approach and build confidence in my teaching methods.
In addition to my regular classes, I also managed extra duties such as substitution classes and helping maintain discipline in the school. These experiences helped me develop essential classroom management skills.
The period ended with a series of assessments to evaluate the students' understanding of the topics covered. The results were positive, indicating that the students were successfully absorbing the material. A notable event during this time was the drug abuse awareness program organized by the Student Police Cadet (SPC) unit, which was attended by all students, staff, and local authorities, adding a valuable dimension to the students' education.
Bi-Weekly Report: 1st July 2024 - 12th July 2024
Period: 1st July 2024 - 12th July 2024
The next two weeks of my teaching practice were focused on deepening the students' understanding of the key concepts in Physics and Chemistry. During this period, I made significant progress in covering the curriculum and preparing the students for upcoming assessments.
In Physics, I delved into the chapter on Equations of Motion, focusing on the concepts of velocity and acceleration. I made sure to differentiate between displacement and distance, using practical examples and diagrams to clarify these concepts. The students were engaged and participated actively in problem-solving sessions, which helped solidify their understanding.
In Chemistry, I continued with the topic of atomic structure, introducing the Bohr Atomic Model and discussing isotopes, isobars, and isotones. I also covered the Electron Configuration and the basics of Atomic Number and Mass Number. These concepts were taught using a combination of theoretical explanations and diagrammatic representations to help students visualize and understand the atomic models.
During this period, I conducted several assessments to evaluate the students' comprehension of the topics covered. The results were satisfactory, with most students showing a good grasp of the material. I also received valuable feedback from my mentor teacher, who observed my classes and provided insights on how to further improve my teaching techniques.
A highlight of this period was the visit from Lega teacher, who observed my class and provided positive feedback on my teaching methods. This observation was a significant milestone, as it helped me validate my approach and identify areas for further improvement.
Overall, these two weeks were marked by productive teaching sessions, effective assessments, and valuable feedback that helped me refine my teaching strategies. The students showed significant progress, which was encouraging and motivated me to continue improving my teaching methods.
Bi-Weekly Report: 15th July 2024 - 26th July 2024
Period: 15th July 2024 - 26th July 2024
The final two weeks of my teaching practice were a culmination of all the efforts put in over the previous weeks. This period was focused on wrapping up the curriculum, conducting final assessments, and reflecting on the overall teaching experience.
In Physics, I completed the chapter on Equations of Motion, covering topics such as acceleration and uniform and non-uniform acceleration. I also introduced the graphical representation of motion and traffic signs, ensuring that students had a comprehensive understanding of the subject. In Chemistry, I finished the chapter on the Periodic Table, discussing transition elements, main group elements, and related problems.
A significant part of this period was dedicated to conducting achievement tests in both subjects. These tests were designed to assess the students' understanding of all the topics covered during my teaching practice. The results were positive, indicating that the students had effectively absorbed the material and were well-prepared for their final exams.
During this period, several observations were conducted by faculty members, including Renjini teacher, Kiran Sir from the Social Science Department, and Dr. Anu Krishna, the Principal of our college. Their feedback was positive and constructive, providing valuable insights that will help me in my future teaching endeavors.
The last day of my teaching practice, 26th July 2024, was particularly memorable. After conducting the final achievement test, I distributed sweets to the students and staff as a gesture of gratitude. The day ended with a meeting where the teachers congratulated us on successfully completing our teaching practice. This final week was both rewarding and bittersweet, as I said goodbye to the students and colleagues I had grown close to over the past weeks.
Reflecting on these two weeks, I feel a deep sense of accomplishment. The positive feedback from my mentor teachers, the progress made by my students, and the personal growth I experienced as a teacher were all highly gratifying. This period has been an invaluable learning experience that has equipped me with the skills and confidence to excel in my future teaching career.
