The three-day educational summit, held from May 8th to May 10th, 2024, was a comprehensive event focusing on the theme of improving the quality of education at all levels, with a particular emphasis on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The summit, hosted by P.T.M. Group of Institutions, brought together educators, policymakers, and scholars from various regions and backgrounds to discuss, present, and explore innovative pedagogical approaches and the future of education in India.
Day 1 of the summit began with registration and a formal assembly, including a flag hoisting ceremony led by Mr. Abhilash D.S., Chief Patron of the Summit. The day continued with the inauguration of an educational exhibition by Adv. M. Vincent MLA, and a proclamation procession, setting the tone for the event. The afternoon was dedicated to an online paper presentation session themed "Improving the Quality of Education at all Levels," where participants shared their research and insights under the guidance of experienced chairpersons from various educational institutions.
Day 2 marked the official inauguration of the International Education Summit, STEEM 2024, which began with a series of ceremonial activities including a welcome dance, college anthem, and speeches from key figures such as Dr. Anu Krishnan R., Principal and Summit Director, and Amb. T.P. Sreenivasan, a former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations. The day featured a keynote address by Prof. (Dr.) Geetha Janet Vitus, followed by the release of significant publications related to education. The sessions also included theme presentations, paper presentations, and open forums that explored early childhood education and 21st-century skills in teacher education, highlighting the importance of professionalism and innovation in the field.
Day 3 continued with an emphasis on educational methodologies, featuring the C. P. Sreekantan Nair Memorial Lecture and panel discussions on teaching methodologies within the context of NEP 2020. The day also included various theme presentations and paper sessions that offered participants a platform to discuss and disseminate their work on exploring innovative pedagogical approaches. The summit concluded with a valedictory function where Dr. M. Rajesh, Regional Director of Indira Gandhi Open University, Trivandrum, delivered the closing address. The event wrapped up with the Balaramapuram Declaration, newsletter release, and certificate distribution, bringing the summit to a ceremonial close.
Overall, the summit served as a vital platform for educators and thought leaders to exchange ideas, foster collaborations, and drive forward the agenda of enhancing educational standards in line with national and global trends.
