NATIONAL WORKSHOP
NATIONAL WORKSHOP
The IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) of PTM College of Education organized a two-day national workshop on "Research Methodology: Sharpening Your Skills" in collaboration with the All India Association for Educational Research on February 8th and 9th, 2024. The workshop aimed to enhance participants' research skills through insightful discussions, interactive sessions, and hands-on activities led by experts in the field.
First Day (8/2/2024)
The first day of the workshop began with an inauguration ceremony, where I had the honor of anchoring the morning session. The national workshop was officially inaugurated by Prof. Dr. V. Reghu, Vice President of the All India Association for Educational Research, who kindled the lamp and delivered an inspiring speech. Following the felicitations from other distinguished guests, the workshop transitioned into the academic sessions.
The morning session featured a panel discussion on the topic "Fundamentals of Research." The panel comprised eminent scholars, including Dr. Issac Paul, Assistant Professor at the Govt. College of Education, Thiruvananthapuram; Prof. (Dr.) Rajeswari K., Professor and Head of the Department of Research and Development at NVKSD College of Education, Attoor; Prof. (Dr.) Maya S., Professor in Education at Mar Theophilus Training College; and Dr. Salini Anil, Principal of SNGK B.Ed. College. The discussion was enriching and provided participants with a solid understanding of the foundational aspects of research.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to "Action Research," a session led by Dr. Sangeetha, Assistant Professor at Sree Narayana Training College. The workshop was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in practical exercises. Each team was given a sheet of paper to contribute a research problem and propose methods to address it. My team tackled the issue of "Different interest among students while learning Prose and Poem," which led to a productive exchange of ideas and solutions.
Second Day (9/2/2024)
The second day of the workshop commenced with a prayer, after which we quickly moved into the day's academic sessions. The panel discussion for the day centered on the "Development of Tools," a crucial aspect of research methodology. This session was expertly handled by Dr. Sameer Babu M., Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. His insights into the creation and utilization of research tools were invaluable, providing participants with practical knowledge that could be applied to their research endeavors.
The workshop was a success, offering participants an opportunity to deepen their understanding of research methodologies and collaborate with peers and experts from across the country.
