Scene 1
Online Class
(Teacher starts google meet and activates attendance option and starts recording the class)
Teacher: Good morning children, did everyone join the class.
S1: Yes teacher, but Divya couldn’t join the class.
Teacher: What happened to Divya?
S1: She told me that she couldn’t join the class due to network issue.
Teacher: Ok no problem. Let’s start our class without wasting time, let her join by the time.
(Teacher uses google meet settings get a detailed attendance of students that have present in
the class.)
[ Camera points towards a student attending the class , sitting leisurely and listening to the
class  ]
S2: Ughh… Why do we always have these classes during such a pleasant morning. It’s boring.
Teacher: Students, did you all submit your assignments in google classroom? I am  going to
check the list.
S2: Oh no, I forgot submit it. What do I do? (Nervously)
(Teacher checks google classroom for submission of the assignment.)
(A student answers through chat box that she had submitted the assignment.)
Teacher: Aswathy! Why didn’t you submit your assignment? Did you think I couldn’t find out.
S2: Sorry teacher! I wrote my assignment but I forgot to submit it.
Teacher: Ok, don’t repeat this. Submit this today itself.
(Teacher uses google whiteboard for explaining concepts and also uses other tools like ppt ,
videos etc )
Teacher: Shall we start our class then? Does anyone remember what I taught last class?
Q: Kavya, What is the reason for the change of state? Please answer.   (silence)
Teacher: Kavya can’t you hear me. You are online but why are you not responding?
S3: (student switches the mic on and off and stays silent.)
Teacher: I think Kavya has gone somewhere while attending the class. She is not responding.
Does anyone else knows the answer?
S4: Yes teacher, Unbalanced force.
Teacher: Very good, correct answer Akhila. So, last class we learned about Balanced and
Unbalanced force. Shall we learn further today?
(Class Continues ..)
(A student raises hand in chat box for doubt clearing, her leg is broken. )
S6: Teacher I did not understand inertia of motion, can you explain it again.
Teacher: ok then I will show you a video to understand this topic better. (Teacher explains the
topic with the help of a video.)
(S1 raises hand)
Teacher: Yes angel.
S1: Teacher, Divya is online right now, please let her join the class.
Teacher: Ok (Teacher adds Divya). Divya, why were you late?
S5: Teacher due to power cut, I couldn’t connect my WIFI.
Teacher: Why didn’t you use your mobile data?
S5: Ma’am I don’t have a phone.
Teacher: Not having a phone is better.
(Teacher notices Chandana’s correct response- eg for inertia of rest is mango falling down
when you shake a tree.)
Teacher: Very good Chandana! I didn’t know that you were this active. Stay active like this
during your offline classes also.
(Class continues)
Teacher: Ok students that’s it for today, I will upload some MCQs in google form. The link will
be provided in google classroom.
Scene2
IT: Sidharth (Supports Online)
SS: Greeshma (Supports Online)
Eng: Swathy (Against online)
PT: Sarath (Against online)
Phy: Chandana ( Neutral)
Staffroom
Eng: Since this online class began, student response has gone down considerably.
PT: You could at least conduct online classes; I couldn’t even do that.
IT: During the lockdown it was because of these online classes that we could at least complete
our portions.
SS: Yes sir, I can convey the concepts with videos and online maps without any time delay, we
can even use whiteboards.
Eng: But using blackboard is easier and more convenient than using a whiteboard. Isn’t it?
IT: I would prefer whiteboard better due to its versatility and infinite potential like smart
charts, brainstorming, picture and video presentation etc. It is absolutely dust free and
environment friendly. You can even save the whole session as a pdf for future references.
PT:  As a PT Teacher I would say that we are compromising both the mental and physical health
of students. I would say we should avoid Online Classes after this pandemic.
Eng: Yes, that is correct, also student lose their self-discipline both in their daily behaviour and
academics. They even lack social skills due to this.
IT: That can be resolved through proper class management by carefully implementing
educational programs and features in their software.
SS: It is also the duty of the parents to properly guide their child. We can even give proper
guidance to the parents for maintaining proper social circle through their effort.
(While an intense debate erupts in the staffroom. The Physics teacher enters the staffroom.)
Phy: What is happening here? What are you debating so eagerly?
IT: We talking about whether Online classes are good or not?
PT: What do you think?
Phy: I have a mixed thought on this topic. Yes, we all can agree that online classes are pretty
convenient in such dire conditions and has even lessened our burden in conveying concepts
to children.  But we also say that it has its own share of flaws. It causes a lot of problems to
both physical and mental. I would rather prefer a Blended Learning.
(Physics Teacher then introduces the idea of blended learning to the other teachers.)
PT: Ok, this is a good idea. We should try to implement this rather than fully Online classes.
IT: Yes, I agree with this technique. We can have all benefits of a Online class in an Offline class
increasing both productivity and making the teaching learning process better. ( Final message
on Blended learning read in the background at the end.)
